2025 Student Conference
The 2025 Student Conference will be hosted by the ANS University of New Mexico Student Section on April 3-5, 2025.
For more information, please email ans25stuco@unm.edu.
One of the Student Sections Committee’s duties is to choose the host sites for ANS Student Conferences. The conference host for next year is now announced at the President’s Special Session at the national Winter Meeting in November. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please contact the SSC Chair.
The Proposal and Planning Manuals are now available! The Student Conference Proposal Manual [PDF] is your guide to applying to host a student conference. The Student Conference Planning Manual [PDF] is primarily written for conference organizers whose bid has already been selected, but may also contain useful information for those preparing a proposal. Contact the SSC Chair if you have any questions during this process.
Proposals are due by October 1 each year for the conference 18 months later. In 2024, proposals are due on October 1st, 2024 for the 2026 spring conference. Email your proposal to sscChair@gmail.com.
Judging is conducted using the Judges’ Evaluation Worksheet as a basis (download as .xls here). This document is used as a GUIDE ONLY, which means that the judging committee will usually consider all factors listed on the worksheet but may alter the worksheet or choose a different host than the numerical winner on the worksheet if there are features of the proposals that the worksheet does not cover. The Judging Committee is to be composed according to these rules adopted by the SSC.
Good standing of student sections is also taken into account in judging.
Winning proposals from past years are included below. We highly recommend that you review them before preparing your own proposal.
Reporting (for Conference Hosts)
Regular reports to the SSC are an important for both monitoring progress and establishing useful reference points to future organizers. When planning your conference, please adhere to the reporting schedule detailed in the Reporting Guidelines.
The final report to the SSC must be submitted after closing our the conference with ANS National, and must include information helpful to both the SSC and future organizers. Please see the Final Report Template for more details on what specifically to include.
All reports should be emailed in PDF format to the SSC Chair.
